Welcome to the "Coach's Corner". Check back throughout the season for words
of wisdom from our 2008 Mayhem Head Coach - Matt Koch.
Mayhem vs. Dayton
5/5/08
Hey Mayhem Fans-
Well, it was soggy, I didnt see as many of you as we would have liked, but we completely dominated the DAYTON DIAMONDS
anyway !!! The MAYHEM took the field very focused and ready, and from the opening kick the ladies sent the message that
they meant business.
This is just a quick run down of the score by quarters: End of the first quarter we lead 35-0. At halftime it was 68-0.
At halftime we made wholesale substitutions and got the chance to play everyone a ton !! As the Head Coach of this team it
is very nice to be able to accomplish our goals and get everyone lots of playing time and help them grow as a player. Without
the help of my assistant coaches this would not have been possible. All of my assistants have been tremendous in their effort
to help myself and this team be successful. I am very thankful to, COACH BILL WHITAKER, COACH PETER CONVERSE, AND COACH TERRENCE
HUDSON, THANKS GUYS.
The final score of the game was 82-0.
Now it is on to Ann
Arbor to face the Spitfire. We are heading over to Ann Arbor this Saturday for a 7pm contest where are goal is nothing short of being dominate again and come back to The Zoo 3-0.
With back to back regulation shut-outs by the defense and our offense finding themselves, we are very confident in our ability
as a team to continue to build momentum and kick some serious butt !!
Mayhem faithful who were at the game saturday, we think you guys kick butt too !!! Thank you for your support and if
you can't make it Saturday to Ann Arbor Pioneer H.S., to watch your Mayhem play the Spitfire then we will see you all in 2
weeks when we host the MINNESOTA VIXEN.
Thanks ,
COACH KOCH
Hey Mayhem Fans-
4/30/08
Sorry it has taken so long to get the Coaches Corner updated, it has been a very busy time since we last talked.
As I am sure all of you know, we won our first game down in FT. WAYNE,IN, this past weekend by the score of 7-6 in overtime.
It was one of the hardest fought football games that I personally have ever coached. I am extremely proud of our ladies and
their heart and desire to win.
We paid a dear price for that victory. During that game we lost 3 starters for the season due to injury. Cat Converse
broke her right forearm and had surgery yesterday. Donelle Block tore her ACL and MCL ligaments in her knee and will have
surgery in a couple of weeks. Linny Beedel also tore her ACL and will also undergo surgery very soon. So needless to say we
are having to make some major changes this week to prepare for our HOME OPENER at MAYORS RIVERFRONT PARK, this
SATURDAY NIGHT AT 7PM.
MAYHEM FANS- WE NEED YOU OUT IN FORCE SATURDAY NIGHT AT 7PM,our game at home this week is against the DAYTON (OHIO) DIAMONDS, we want to see
all the fans in the stands cheering on your MAYHEM FOOTBALL TEAM !!!!!!!!
After this weeks game, I am going to sit down and get personal with all you fans on this site and give you an update
on some amazing stats on our players performances so far this year. Here is a quick sneak peek- We have 5 players in the top
10 in the nation in tackles already this year !! WOW !!! Much more to come so stay tuned and thank you in advance
for coming out this weekend to cheer the ladies on !!

Preparing for Fort Wayne Flash
4/23/08
Hey Mayhem Fans - finally game week is here !!!
Our players are ready to get on the field and show their fans a new Mayhem Team.
On Saturday at 4pm, we kick-off the '08 season against a very good Ft. Wayne Flash team who won
their opener 59-0. Ft. Wayne plays power football very well. This will be our toughest opponent of the regular season,so any
of our Mayhem Fans that can make the trip to Ft. Wayne to cheer us on we would greatly appreciate.
Thanks for your support !!
Coach Koch

Football Tip Of the Week:
Wide Receiver Tips
1) The eyes are the key to successfully
catching the football. Focus on the ball all the way into the hands, concentrating on the tip.
2) The best
hand position is with the thumbs in where the thumbs and forefingers of each hand are almost touching.
3) If the
pass is low or over-thrown, hold the hands with the little fingers in and the thumbs out.
4) Focus on
catching the football at the end. If you try to catch it at the middle of the ball, you're likely to see it pass right through
the hands.
5) Catch with
your hands, not the body.
6) As you come out of your route, snap your head back toward the quarterback quickly.
7) Control the football before trying to run with it.
8) Develop a quick burst in your release off the line.
9) Develop
the ability to separate yourself from the defensive back.
10) Always
catch the football at its highest point
